Patty, the Lion King is one of my favorite movies. Not in my top 6, but definitely one of my favorite animated movies. Funny you mention the clean slate feeling, I just went for the clean slate on my new post, wiping the slate clean so I can focus on some new books.

Hi Eric – I’m thinking you should audition for the Lion King! Very fun – the lion’s mane looks good on you. As far as resolutions go, I’m not much for them. I do appreciate the notion of a clean slate, fresh start, all that. But for me that’s an inner feeling more than a particular goal.

Belinda, Maybe kids are immune to static electricity. Or more likely just having to much fun to worry about it. I like the monthly and seasonal resolutions. Those seem to work better for me also.

Krissa, I’ve thought that also, I seem to get shocked quite a bit. Maybe you can try Annabel’s suggestion of touching the ground before touching the door.

Annabel, that’s a good tip. I’ll try it for the car, but my legs are long enough to reach the ground from the top of the slide.

I get electric shocks all the time, too, on those plastic structures, and my son (3 yr old) is always unscathed.

Beautiful family you’ve got there, Eric. Lion’s mane and all.

I was thinking about any New Year’s resolutions I might want to have several weeks ago and I was reminded of all the times I failed myself. The times that I stick with any resolution aren’t time-specific at all; more because I was ready in October or really motivated in July. Now, I seem to do more seasonal and monthly resolutions and I stick with them which logically make me a happier person.

Yep, it is sad indeed. I think part of the problem is that people make resolutions that are not practical, and thus destined to fail. That can really take bite out of a resolution.

You know I seriously think that some people are just a lot more electrically… charged(?) than others. I swear, every time I get out of a car when it’s cool and dry, I get shocked shutting the door. No one else seems to. It’s gotten to where I slap the door frame to grab it. For some reason this works and no shock.
Do you think it differs from person to person?
Sorry I have been MIA lately. Was gone out of town and have been harried. (Not hairy) Will try to hammer out a post soon.

I had a shocking year in 2009. Kept getting electric shocks when I got out of my car then someone told me I needed to earth myself by putting my foot on the ground before touching the metal door. Wierd! I wrote a post of Lifehack about new year’s resolutions. I agree. It’s not the time that’s important but doing it at some point. Have a roaring 2010:)
