I also use it when talking about others that feel they've been "dealt a bad hand." I feel that you have to take the hand you are dealt and make the most of it. Much the same as I imagine a soul before popping into earth. The soul has it's reality, but wants to experience something different, so they incarnate on Earth. I'm here on Earth and want to experience something different so I pop into a video game. I wonder what the video game characters do when we're not playing, maybe they all get together and play some pac-man.
