Great observations Patty. It did feel like a yearning. It was an odd sense really, I felt contentment yet I also felt sadness. Sometimes I pick up on feelings of others, like it's in the air and I can sense it. In this case I sensed sadness in the air, and I explored it a bit and let it hang around for a while.

Funny thing, some of this yearning crept into my new post Nothin's gonna change my world A yearning for folks to open their eyes and minds.

Hi Eric - You've captured so beautifully that wistful feeling, sadness mixed with other things. It's almost a yearning kind of sadness: yearning for your coworkers to enjoy what they do, yearning for people to understand that rain is just water, yearning for your neighbors to see opportunity and magic when the power goes out, yearning for yourself to step away from technology and just be with your family. I love the way you name it as a form of contentment. It's wonderful

Yep, the perspective is great and my momentary sadness felt good. After all, you can't have happiness without something to contrast it to. A little sadness makes the happiness so much better.

I was fun to feel the melancholy. The evening outdoors was definitely a nice ending to the day. I love the language differences sometimes, torches to us are big flaming sticks. I'm guessing torches to you are flashlights. Although I think it would be alot more fun to run around with flaming sticks.

My daughter also loves to play with flashlights. It's one of her favorite parts of going camping. I can imagine it would be fun to just pretend the power is out sometimes, I'll put that on my list of fun games to play.

A little sadness isn't really a bad thing. Not to mention it's really refreshing to be able to put everything in perspective. Then the joy is so much lighter and brighter.

Beautiful post and music. It is good to feel melancholy sometimes and wallow in it with a bit of mood setting music and rainy weather. We do have to experience the good and the bad, life's never going to be 100% happy. But I think you made the most of it to realize how lucky you are compared to some people and enjoy the spontaneity of hanging out with your neighbors in the power cut. Brilliant excuse to stay away from technology. Pretending there was a power cut used to be a favorite game for our kids. Running round with torches and putting out candles, they love it!
