This is a really neat thing you've got going here. I'll have to read more when I'm not so tired! I've got a blog called Think Happy Thoughts that I started last year. I don't really have that many viewers so I'm trying to rethink how I'm writing my posts or what I'm writing about to gain more of a following. Thanks for all these links to all of these blogs, I'll definitely check them out!

Enjoy my blog, http://bennettrainey.com/wordpress/

Red Hamster, I agree completely with your comments on Krissa and her blog. I was very excited when she agreed to participate.

I'm not sure if you like to read. If you're not much of a reader, I have a fun and east book on happiness that I read and loved. "Being Happy" by Andrew Matthews. It's a short and easy to read book with wonderful little illustrations. It's one you can keep in the bathroom and finish in a short time.

If you do like to read and want something with some good techniques, then I recommend "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. This is the book that woke me up to the fact that I could choose to be anything and have any feeling that I wanted.

I have both books listed in my <a href="http://astore.amazon.com/edenjour-20?_encoding=UTF8&node=6" rel="nofollow">Favorite Books</a> section.

The fact that you took the time to actively think about your happiness is fantastic. Looking for happy signs of Spring sounds like a wonderful thing to do! I find the more I think about happy things, participate in happy activities, and focus on being happy, the more I actually feel happy.

Thanks for participating in the Campfire by commenting here. You have added some great conversation by discussing your struggle with happiness, and I think that is a very valuable addition to our discussion.

I came here from a link on Krissa's site, "HalfAsstic." It makes me happy to read Krissa's blog; she is a strong woman handling a lot of circumstances in her life and yet she keeps such a great sense of humor. I would love to spend an evening talking around a campfire with her. The "campfire" is a great concept, and very thought-provoking.

I tend to be a hard-core whiner and complainer; I find "happiness" very elusive. Personally, I think being happy is more complex and difficult than just being a choice. I'm glad to read your "campers" thoughts that happiness can require a process and must be sought actively and purposefully. Patty had a very insightful point about happiness and a "meaningful life."

So why am I sitting in front of my computer this afternoon, when it is sunny, although chilly, outside? Sun makes me happy...so maybe my day would be more meaningful if I shut down this computer and go outside for a while...and look for happy signs of Spring?

i like the idea of the post :)
happiness is:

1 ) The absence of bad emotions: Sadness, depression, loneliness....etc
2) Being able to meet your unmet needs (reaching your goals, making your dreams true....etc)

thank u:)

Annabel, I would absolutely love to get together around a real campfire. I bet we'd talk on and on through the night into the wee hours of the morning. Maybe we'll plan to do that one day.

I love it that this all worked out so well and that everyone had a great time writing. That's what it's all about for me, having fun.

Hey Eric,

This campfire thing turned out much better than I ever expected. Except it made me really want to actually be there with you lot sitting round the fire and having a good old yarn while the kids run around playing.

Krissa - Yes, we are so lucky. For starters we can read and write!
Patrenia - Love the active pursuit of happiness.
Eric - Ferris Bueller was one of my favourite movies. So silly, naughty and playful.Yes, we need have the clap hand attitude.
Patty - Yes, the simple things are the best. Hearing your warning about blog subscribers too:) Are you psychic?!:)

It's great to be part of a group of people that are actively seeking out happiness and trying to spread happiness too. Thanks sooo much for organising this and for inviting me to be a part of it. I can feel the joy and happiness radiating out of my computer screen:)
