I have seen many lists floating around on the Internet and on Facebook. I usually find them interesting to read, but have never found any particularly useful. Until I came across one at www.psychicgeek.com. It got me thinking of something I had read elsewhere, asking if you really know yourself; if you really know who you are and what you stand for. I thought what better way to get to know myself than to write 100 things about me. 100 was enough things that it really made me think. 20 things were pretty easy, 40 wasn’t too bad, but to get to 100, I really had to put some thought into it. Also, I did this exercise in a single sitting (well, with one drink break followed by a potty break.) I did this so I could capture everything that bubbled to the top of my mind relatively quickly. So, here is my list.
- I love my wife
- I love my daughter
- In high school, I hated to read.
- After high school, I love to read.
- I never liked English or Literature classes in school, but all the silly rules of English language and grammar stuck with me.
- Now, I love to write.
- I was laid off in June of 2009 and it changed my outlook on life.
- I now desire to spend much more time with my family, and less time working.
- I realized after being laid off that in business profitability trumps all things.
- I also realized the only person that has my best interest in mind is me.
- I always wanted a Jeep, but didn’t know it until I walked into the Jeep dealership.
- I bought a new Jeep Wrangler in 1998, and it opened me to a whole new hobby.
- I joined the Orlando Jeep Club in 1999, and it opened me to many great friendships.
- I like cats, I dislike dogs.
- I like sunrises, but I don’t like to wake up early enough to see them.
- I work in computer support.
- I like the aspect of helping people more than fixing computers.
- I try to surround myself with like minded people.
- I try to maintain a positive outlook on life.
- I believe that everything happens for a reason.
- And, that everything works out in the end.
- I learned not to worry in ninth grade
- I learned how to fall asleep quickly in ninth grade
- Ninth grade appears to have been an important year for me.
- I have psoriasis.
- It was hard growing up with psoriasis, but I discovered that people accept you for what’s inside more so than what’s outside.
- I read somewhere that people with psoriasis are special because they leave a little bit of themselves wherever they go.
- I work on improving my intuition.
- I had a dream that revealed the date my daughter would be born.
- The dream was only 8 days off.
- I keep a log of my dreams.
- My favorite anniversary with my wife was a hot air balloon ride.
- I was born and raised in Florida.
- I like it here, so I decided to stay.
- I’ve only seen snow once.
- I’ve seen the beach and ocean hundreds of times.
- I like to spend time outdoors.
- I like to kayak, but need a kayak upgrade since my daughter can no longer fit with me in my single seater kayak.
- I have a hard time giving (to others, to charities)
- I’m debt free except for my house.
- I set goals and write them down.
- I would be vegetarian if I could just learn to like more vegetables
- I like to play video games.
- I prefer my gaming from the couch (on my Playstation 3 rather than on a computer)
- I am shy around people I don’t know well.
- I had an out of body experience when I was 12.
- I didn’t know what it was until years later.
- I am an Eagle Scout, having achieved the highest rank in Boy Scouting.
- I still remember how to tie knots, and use this skill to this day.
- I try to keep an open mind.
- I love to watch movies.
- My favorite type of movie is one that involves an unlikely hero overcoming great evil.
- My 5 favorite moves are 5th Element, The Postman, Moulin Rouge, Mars Attacks, and The Matrix.
- Netflix is the greatest thing that ever happened to movie rentals
- I prefer an average movie over an average TV program.
- As such, I don’t watch much TV, especially since we started using Netflix.
- I read many books in 5 (maybe 10) minute intervals.
- I often read more than one book at a time.
- I like hugs.
- I like to travel, but don’t do it as much as I’d like.
- I try to live by the Golden Rule.
- I believe in God.
- I see God as a supreme being, as a creator, but I do not see him as a vengeful entity, nor do I see him as one whom would punish or judge.
- I do not believe in Heaven or Hell.
- I find it incredibly unlikely that we spend 90 or so years on Earth, which is a blink of the eye in the vastness of time, and then spend all eternity in heaven or hell.
- I believe in reincarnation.
- I consider myself spiritual rather than religious.
- I believe that everyone has some form of psychic ability.
- I have never seen a UFO.
- I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. I figure if I decide to do something, then I’ll just do it. I don’t need to tie it to a new year. Also, most people don’t follow through with their New Year’s resolutions, and therefore I associate that as a setup for failure.
- I like to snuggle with my wife and daughter.
- I have overcome much of my jealousy, and no longer feel a desire to “keep up with the Joneses.”
- I used to own a sailboat and hope to again someday.
- I like the quiet movement of a sailboat as it glides silently across the water.
- I have never cared for sports.
- This sometimes makes it hard to make small talk with other guys.
- I like to go camping.
- I don’t mind walking in the rain. It’s just water!
- I like the sound of the rain.
- One of the best feelings is warmth of the sun on my face.
- Another is sitting in the Jeep, in the middle of nowhere, seat laid back, top down, slight chill in the air, staring up at the stars.
- Sometimes I feel that we live in a very selfish world.
- Then I see two children sharing their toys and I have hope.
- Sometimes I give money to homeless people, and sometimes I don’t.
- If a homeless person tells me an interesting/entertaining story about why they need money, I’ll give it to them just for being creative.
- When I drive my Jeep in the woods, I prefer beautiful, scenic trails rather than big ego, difficult trails.
- “Jeep” was the first word my daughter could read.
- “Pretty” was her first spoken word, during Christmas time when we always talked about the “pretty” Christmas lights.
- The first word she could spell/write was her name. The second was “Jeep.”
- I don’t desire a fancy cell phone that does a million things. The ability for it to make a phone call is all I really need.
- Sometimes I think I‘d like to be a farmer.
- I like cake more than I like ice cream.
- But the combination of the two is heavenly.
- The ultimate desert is a hot fudge brownie topped with ice cold vanilla ice cream.
- I don’t hang out with my brothers as often as I’d like.
- My favorite food is pizza; I guess some things never change.
- I thought these lists were supposed to be funny, mine seems more deep than I initially intended.
- I often count my blessings.
- I love my wife.
- I love my daughter.

I am a friend of your wife from the SPFC. I was referred to your blog via Jennifer~ I have to say, this was touching and inspirational. I find it amazingly genuine when a person can reach out to total strangers and share their soul and innermost thoughts/feelings. Kuddos to you! Good Luck on your blog~

Nicolle,
Thanks for the comments. It is very difficult sharing my soul with the world, especially as I get started in blogging. It’s getting easier though as time goes by, and as I get positive comments like yours.
