eBook FAQ

What is an eBook?

Quite simply it’s an electronic book; a book that is read on your computer, mobile device, or eBook reader device.

How do I read an eBook?

Most eBooks here are in the PDF format, and can be read by Adobe Reader.  If you don’t have Adobe Reader on your computer, you can download it for free.  Some mobile devices also have the ability to read PDF files.  If your does, you can transfer the PDF to your mobile device for on-the-go reading.

What are the advantages of an eBook?

Faster access to current information.  Since an eBook author doesn’t have to deal with publishers and printing lead times, the information is often more current.  eBooks are also more easily updated to keep the content current.  An eBook can be offered indefinitely, without ever going out of print.  The production of eBooks does not consume paper, ink, etc.  Printed books use 3 times more raw materials and 78 times more water to produce.

How do I buy and eBook?

You can click the “download now” button to purchase the eBooks in the reviews.  You’ll be redirected to a secure order page where you place the order with the eBook distributer.  After purchasing, you’ll either be redirected to a download page or sent an email with instructions to download.

How do I get the free eBooks?

The eBooks you’ll find here at Eden Journal are either free or paid eBooks.  For the free eBooks, you simple click the “download now” button, and you’ll be redirected to the author’s page where you can download the eBook.

What’s the “catch” with the free eBooks?

Sometimes there isn’t one; the authors simple want to get their name and their blog out there.  Other times you’ll be asked to sign up for a newsletter.  Most bloggers only use their newsletters for special announcements, so you don’t usually have to worry about getting a lot of spam.  And, you can always unsubscribe after you get your eBook.

Why would I buy and eBook when there are so many for free?

While there is a lot of great content available for free, the paid material is often more in-depth and the author has put more time and energy into it.  My suggestion is, when possible, read an author’s free eBook first, and if you like the content, you’ll usually like the paid offerings even more.  The paid eBooks often have more premium content as well, and often come with companion materials or videos.
