How to Submit an Article to Eden Journal

I once heard a quote that stated
“Be open-minded, but not so open-minded that your brain falls out.”

Around here, we think the point where you brain falls out is the tipping point to even greater thinking.  After your brain falls out, pick it up, dust it off, and analyze the experience.  Then write a post about it and share it with our wonderful readers.

Eden Journal is a friendly place, where folks gather to share and to think.  We encourage open minded thinking.  Our favorite posts are ones that test our brains with new ideas or far out theories.  We generally focus on personal growth topics in an attempt to make our lives a little better and a little more rewarding.

We are looking for in-depth posts with lots of thought put into them.  These aren’t the knock it out in 30 minutes kind of guest posts.  These are the Raptitude.com or StevePavlina.com kind of in-depth, well thought out posts that usually take at minimum a couple of hours to write, and typically more like 6 to 10 hours to research, write, and edit.  We want high quality posts for smarter than average analytical minds.

Common topics include

  • Personal Growth
  • Personal Development
  • Life lessons
  • Lessons learned from our children
  • Experiments
  • Spirituality and Religion
  • Philosophy
  • Metaphysics
  • Supernatural

Don’t feel too limited by that list though, if you have a topic that is good fodder for thought we’ll consider it for publication.

Article Submission Requirements

  • Content must be an original work written by you.
  • The article you submit cannot be published on other sites, including your own.
  • We like in-depth posts, so content should be between 1000 and 3000 words.
  • No list posts.  List posts typically have titles like “5 ways to” or “10 best.”  While list posts are fun to read, we’re looking for articles with a little more meat to them.
  • Articles should not contain any self-promotion, including links to your own site.
  • Please do not use any affiliate links, attempt to Rickroll our readers, or refer to any spam sites
  • If you are quoting a study or external reference, make an effort to link to the source.
  • Include an image to accompany your post, but make sure it has a license or term that gives the right for commercial use.
  • Include a bio and a picture of yourself for the “written by” section.  This is your spot to tell us about yourself and for self-promotion.  You are encouraged to link to your own site in the bio section.
  • All posts will be proofread, but please make an effort to check it for grammar and punctuation before submitting.  We reserve the right to edit posts as needed for grammar, punctuation, or flow.  We will not change the meaning of your article or your point of view, but we may rewrite sections if they are confusing or wordy.  Know that we do this with the best intentions and that we cannot review changes with you prior to publishing.

Really, it’s pretty simple.  Write good stuff and keep it honest.

How to Submit a Guest Post

We have two ways to submit a post.

  1. If you desire to become a regular contributor by posting weekly, monthly, or quarterly, sign up here for author status so you can easily compose your posts within WordPress.
  2. If you want to submit a single, one time post, that’s great too.  You can email your article to articles@edenjournal.com.
